2008 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Great Dane
The birth of Great Dane wine comes from my love for animals and my love for such a magnificent breed. After owning my first Great Dane, Rudy, I came to admire these gentle giants who seem to have just one desire: to win the hearts of all they meet. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of being around this breed, you know what loving dogs they are. They’re big, bold and beautiful—which happen to be the same qualities I love about Cabernet Sauvignon.
In that spirit, I created my award-winning Great Dane Cabernet Sauvignon to honor this special breed, and to make an impact ... on the palate and for a worthy cause. This limited-production vintage will help support Rolling Dog Ranch, an animal sanctuary where disabled animals enjoy life to the fullest. You know that HeartSmart Wines are all about the heart, so I hope once you unleash this puppy it’ll warm your heart as much as it did mine when creating it! Tasting NotesLike the Great Dane breed, this wine has a prominent nose. Inhale deeply, and you’ll pick up fresh-picked blackberries and plums, backed by a solid sweet oak note that pulls it all together. When you pour this full-bodied juice into a glass, you’ll notice its deep, dark red color with just a hint of purple. And then there’s the moment it hits your mouth—fleshy, ripe, lush and well-balanced, with just enough tannin action to satisfy you with a firm finish. Those same tannins will allow this big, bold pup to lie down and age for eight years or more. You could be pleasantly surprised. |
